Customizable PRD Fields allow you to tailor specific elements of your PRD to align perfectly with your project’s unique needs and style. This flexibility gives you greater control over the output, ensuring the generated PRDs reflect your vision and preferences.
With Customizable PRD Fields, you provide instructions that PRD-AI uses to generate and format the content of the specified fields within your PRD.
On the Create a PRD screen, in the PRD Fields section, you’ll find the following fields:
Description and Acceptance Criteria — These are existing fields provided by PRD-AI. Both are required fields, but you can now customize the instructions for each.
Custom Field — You can create a custom field by naming it and providing specific instructions to PRD-AI on the type of output you want it to generate.
This increased flexibility lets you tailor these fields to meet your project’s specific requirements and style, ensuring the PRDs are closely aligned with your needs.
Description — Provide custom instructions for generating the content of the Feature Description field for each feature. For example, you can instruct PRD-AI to:
"Summarize the feature in 2-3 sentences, focusing on key technical specifications."
"Use plain language to describe how the feature enhances the end-user experience, and include potential use cases."
Acceptance Criteria — Provide custom instructions for generating the Acceptance Criteria for each feature. For example:
"List all mandatory criteria and any optional criteria under a separate subheading."
"Structure the criteria as step-by-step tasks the user must complete to meet the requirements."
Custom Field — A custom field can be anything you specify. Currently, only one custom field can be added to a PRD, but we're working on expanding this capability in future updates. Examples include:
A field called "User Personas," with instructions to “Describe two to three key personas that will interact with this feature and their expected behaviors.”
A field called "Data Flow," with instructions to “Include a diagram outlining the data flow between different system components.”
Also, you can specify more than one instruction for each field. PRD-AI combine these instructions to meet your specific needs. For example:
Description — "Summarize the feature in 2-3 sentences, focusing on key technical specifications, and explain how it improves performance over previous iterations."
Acceptance Criteria — "List all mandatory criteria and structure them as step-by-step tasks. Highlight any dependencies between criteria."
Custom Field Title and Instructions — For a field called "API Endpoints," you could specify: "Provide a list of all API endpoints and group them by functionality. Include the required parameters and example responses."
